• The standard turnaround time for retouched headshots is 1 week. We do offer add on Rush options if you need the image same day, or next day for a fee!

• A $100 deposit is due at the time of scheduling to secure your appointment time. This is NON-REFUNDABLE. You may reschedule your appointment with no penalty 24 hours before the shoot. If you choose to pay in full before your shoot, and you call 24 hours before your shoot time, you'll be able to reschedule your shoot without losing the payment. If you do not call and do not show up for your appointment, you forfeit your entire payment and/or deposite for the shoot.

• If we are just doing one headshot per person, then the average appointment time slot is anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes. If each person is getting a headshot and an environmental portrait, I usually request 20 minute slots per person.

• Please arrive about 5 minutes prior to your scheduled headshot slot time. It’s very important to keep a tight schedule, especially in groups where we only have a few minutes to work with each person.

Depending on your purchased package, the headshot session can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours. If you are getting makeup done, this could potentially add another hour before the portrait session begins, so please let us know if you are getting makeup done or not.

• Men: consider wearing a shirt and tie without loud patterns or stripes. You should also bring at least a sports coat. Headshots do not look nice if men only wear white shirts and ties in their shots. The white shirts can easily blend in with the white background and make men look like floating heads.

• Women: consider wearing blouses and blazers. Avoid loud prints, harsh patterns and completely white tops.

• Actors: Solid colors are best. You can also get away with a small print as long as it is layered underneath something else. It is the large prints and emblems that tend to take away from the subject’s face. When outside, earth tones - that are darker than your skin tone look best. V necks and layered sweaters or blazers do a really great job of guiding the viewer’s eye up to your face. So consider creating some sort of visual line that will draw the viewers eye to your face in your headshot. Boat neck shirts and collars can sometimes pose a problem as they can make a subject look larger than they actually are in person.

• Actors: This depends on the type of actor you are. Today, more and more auditions are "online submission only" which means the headshot and more importantly who you portray in it, can be the difference between being called in for the audition or not. Because of this, please reflect on the roles that you tend to get cast as or the roles you want to get, and choose props and articles of clothing that might portray that type of character.

• Executive: Props are not suggested for your head shot appointment. If you wear glasses, you may consider bringing them as a second look for an additional portrait, but this is not required. However, if you are ordering an environmental portrait/headshot, carefully consider the context/aesthetic of the room or location of the photograph. For example, a published researcher or author would fit better in a library or home office setting than in a medical office or factory site.

• For corporate and group sessions we find that makeup artists are rarely necessary. If your image is to be featured in a large publication or artistic forum then this may be something to consider more seriously.

• We will arrive with a small “camera ready” kit which includes blotting papers, lint rollers, matting powder and hair spray to ensure each of your employees look their absolute best for their headshot.

• While there are certainly benefits to working with a hair and makeup artist it is ultimately your personal and creative choice. If you do want to do your own makeup, it is suggested that people apply about 25% to 30% more makeup than usual. You can also spray quite a lot of hairspray on your hair. Shooting outside will add some breeze to our shoot and the better your hair stays in place the less we will have to stop shooting to fix small hairs.

A good rule of thumb is about 10 to 15 minute slots per person. However, this will vary depending on your desired outcomes. If you purchase a package with multiple looks and locations this will obviously add more time to the total session.

Depending on how many people need headshots, you can estimate 4 to 6 people per hour plus an additional hour for equipment setup.

We will arrive on the location of your choosing usually 1 hour before the first person is scheduled to be photographed.

We will set up our equipment and be completely ready for the first person to show up.
