STAGES OF PRODUCTION

Many believe that film, photography, and the creative arts in general are strictly an artistic medium, but it’s also important to remember that there is a science and strategy to content development that should not be overlooked.

As social media and the internet have continued to evolve exponentially, video production and professional photography have become the preeminent way to connect with audiences everywhere.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Clearly defining your goals and objectives will ensure that you are working toward them steadily.

It cannot be stated more clearly that the work, research, and planning done before the camera ever turns on can either make or break your project. It is critical that you take the time to plan your project accordingly.

The strategy stage is where original concepts for your project will begin to circulate. This begins with reverse engineering your message to better understand who will be interacting with your video and how you can design your materials to more clearly speak to that target audience.

YOU SHOULD ALSO CONSIDER THESE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS:

  • What’s is this project’s purpose?

  • What does success look like for this project?

  • What are your distribution methods?

  • What is your project’s budget?

LOGISTICS

Location scouting, talent acquisition, rentals, or any other necessary requirements.

The pre-production phase is simply the next step that allows for all of the information collected in the strategy phase to translate seamlessly into a clear plan of action. The storyboard, shotlist, and logistics map allow for a smooth transition into the production phase and ensures a greater level of satisfaction with the delivery of the final product.

1. E.T.I. (EMOTION THROUGH IMAGERY)

E.T.I. (Emotion Through Imagery) is Pinnacle’s stable. Emotion through imagery is the guiding force that allows us to develop high-quality content time and time again. It is the backbone of how we approach the video production process to help deliver consistent, high-quality products.

2. SCRIPT

A script is the blueprint for your video. It’s the foundation on which everything else rests. Scripts are often the exact words being read as well as directions about their tonality and emotion. The script is vital to helping us tell an engaging story and gives us an accurate video length to meet your deliverables needs.

3. STORYBOARD

The storyboard is the creative document that helps marry the script with its visual execution. This will outline the visual components of what is shown during each portion of the script and how much time we have during these sections to produce the correct messaging.

4. SHOTLIST

A shotlist transforms the storyboard from a creative document into a more technical document and provides an itemized list of shots that need to be captured during the production phase. It provides the crew with the necessary details they will need to plan in advance so that they are prepared and have everything they need to operate as smoothly as possible.

5. SCHEDULING

The production schedule is just that… A schedule. In the production space, this schedule allows us to plan each shot from the shot list in detail and ensures that we are checking off each item in an efficient manner over the course of the production. This document often outlines exact times, locations, and any props or actors that need to be prepared at specific times. This document should also include other time-relevant factors, such as travel, rest, and meal time.

PRODUCTION

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Executing the production phase should be a relatively seamless process if you’ve carefully navigated through the strategy and pre-production phase. It is important to note that there are always a few variables during any shoot that require flexibility, but the early phases of planning will help ensure an accurate and desirable final product that’s sure to impress.

This phase is where our technical expertise will shine. We use reliable, battle-tested equipment that will allow us to execute your production with pristine quality that will set your product apart from the competition.

The post-production phase is where the real creativity emerges. This phase is a bit like constructing a puzzle. However, thanks to the early strategy and pre-production phases you should have a blueprint to follow from A-Z.

DISTRIBUTION

REACHING YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE

There are countless destinations where your video can land. From websites, social media accounts, email marketing campaigns, or billboards. This phase will allow you to better understand where your audience will interact with the content.

Generally this distribution strategy is mapped out in the earlier strategy phases so that you know where content will land.
